St. Ignatius man sentenced for enticement

MISSOULA - A 33-year-old St. Ignatius man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for arriving at a Missoula middle school with a child's fast-food meal and condoms for what he thought was a meeting with a 14-year-old girl.

Federal prosecutors say Jason Allen Sands was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy on Friday.

Sands was convicted of attempted coercion and enticement.

Court records say a 15-year-old girl was receiving sex offers from a man she met on her MySpace page.

A woman posed as a 14-year-old girl named Kayla to learn more about the man's identity and then detectives took over Kayla's character and arranged a meeting with Sands.

Prosecutors say Sands indicated he wanted to have sex with Kayla and e-mailed an explicit photo.
