BILLINGS - Republican Congressional nominee Steve Daines got a big boost for his campaign Wednesday night. House Speaker John Boehner appeared as a special guest at a Billings fund raising event at the Petroleum Club atop the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Billings.

Speaker Boehner spoke to the group and with Daines privately.

Daines told us it means a lot to have the speaker visiting Montana.

"It's an honor to have the Speaker of the House visit Montana," Daines said. "He loves Montana. He's been out here before. But I think it highlights the importance of this election. The importance of ensuring we've got candidates elected that understand jobs, the economy, have good private sector experience and know what to do to get this economy to move forward and balance their budget."

We're told about 100 people attended the fundraiser.

This is day 12 of Boehner's 23-day campaign tour in 13 states.
