Snowmobiler rescued after hitting tree

A snowmobiler is in Bozeman Deaconess Hospital today after being rescued near West Yellowstone this morning.

According to a press release from the Gallatin County media center, the incident occurred around 10:30 this morning.

Sheriff's Deputies, Personnel from the West Yellowstone division of Sheriff's Search and Rescue, the U.S. Forest Service, the Hebgen Basin Fire Department, and the responded and assisted with the rescue.

When they arrived on scene they found a 63-year-old male from Mount Airy, Maryland who had hit a tree. He was transported out of the backcountry by the rescue team, and transported to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital.

According to Lt. Jason Jarret, support services with Gallatin County Search and Rescue, the man did not sustain life threating injuries.
