WEST GLACIER - A pair of skiers were caught up in avalanche late Tuesday afternoon on Elk Mountain in Glacier National Park, which is in the Middle Fork area of the park.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry say that both of the skiers are alive and out of the avalanche. One of the skiers was injured with a cut to his head and an injury to his shoulder.

Weather conditions are difficult at this time, and Glacier National Park officials are going in by foot to get to the skiers.

We have a reporter en route to the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
