BILLINGS - Rain and cooler temperatures Monday have proven to be a big help to firefighters battling two wildfires in Montana.
The Davis fire northwest of Helena is now 50 percent contained. Crews are nearly done mopping up the western flank of that 2,100-acre wildfire.
Crews will work on improving fire lines and extinguishing spot fires outside the perimeter with the help of helicopters.
Meanwhile, the 315-acre Downing Fire near Hamilton is now 55 percent contained. Crews have completed fire lines along the northern and southern flanks of the fire.
