RYEGATE, MT - The Golden Valley Sheriff's Office has been investigating a string of seven fires that happened on Saturday.
Sheriff Floyd Fischer has been working with the State Fire Marshal's Office.
Fischer says he has some leads and has been interviewing people, but has no information to release.
He says the last arson investigation in the county happened eight years ago for three fires.
Saturday's fires started at 9 pm, about seven miles south of Ryegate. The string stretched southeast toward Broadview.
Sheriff Floyd Fischer says all the fires happened on private property.
Three fire departments responded on Saturday to the intentionally set fires.
Sheriff Fisher says the flames burned in grasslands, and timber - ranging in size from one-half acre, to 28 acres.
One of the fires burned a 100-ton haystack of round-bales.
The sheriff says authorities suspect arson due to witness statements.
