BILLINGS- Some local students are getting excited about college--in elementary school.
Shepherd Elementary is hoping this spring to become the first school in Montana to join the No Excuses University college bound program.
Every classroom has adopted a different university. College flags and banners hang throughout the building, and students are learning college chants.
The goal is to get kids thinking about their future, forging a relationship between classrooms and universities.
"We focus on the college bound aspect. We plant the seed. We want our kids to dream big, and you know, we're trying to be the first one in Montana state to do that," Shepherd Elementary School Principal John Farley said.
There are about 120 official No Excuses University schools nationwide.
