Polls close at 8 tonight for today's bond issue election for Billings Schools. Voter turnout is strong for a school bond election, over 30,000 ballots have been returned. If passed, the bonds will pay for numerous maintenance projects and repairs for local schools. Voters are being asked to approve $12-million dollars in bonds. $4.4 million of that will go to elementary school projects - while $7.6 million will go to Billings High Schools. Federal stimulus dollars, state assistance and a tax credit...will help reduce the actual cost to taxpayers, to less than six million dollars. The estimated cost to the owner of a 100-thousand dollar home - would be $4.36/ year.
Keep it here on Q2 tonight. We'll bring you the bond issue results as soon as they're available on-air and on-line at ktvq.com.
