UPDATE - BILLINGS - A rollover accident involving three people occurred on Interstate 90 on mile marker 452, near Coulson Park, at 10:55 Saturday morning.
Eyewitnesses said the Chevrolet Avalache truck travelling eastbound sped up to pass another vehicle. The driver's speed caused the truck to careen into the median where the driver then overcorrected. The truck rolled multiple times, landing on its hood and skidding to a halt.
The 32-year-old male driver from Shelby, Montana was ejected. Resuscitation efforts on the male proved to be unsuccessful and he succumbed to injuries sustained. The 27-year-old male from Billings seated in the rear passenger side was partially ejected and pinned under the truck where he died. The female passenger, 31-year-old also from Billings, was rushed to the hospital with unconfirmed injuries.
Speed and carless driving was a factor in the wreck. Montana Highway Patrol said alcohol is not a factor in the crash. No one involved was wearing seatbelts.
Invesitgation is ongoing. We will provide more updates as they become available.
