BILLINGS - With an estimated 85-percent of the votes tallied, Steve Bullock has been named the winner in the race for Montana's governor seat.
The race between Bullock and republican challenger Rick Hill was a hard-fought battle. Bullock currently has 49-percent of the votes, while Hill earned 47-percent support. Statewide, 15-percent of the votes still needed to be reported.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, republican challenger Rick Hill conceded in the Montana Gubernatorial Race.
"I want to congratulate Steve Bullock on his election and I wish him and his running mate John Walsh the best. Both are dedicated public servants, and I know that they will do their best to make the right decisions for Montana," Hill said in a released statement. "With the election behind us, I urge leaders in both political parties to set aside their differences and begin working together to develop solutions that will benefit all Montanans."
