BOZEMAN - Fire engulfed an apartment complex Tuesday night at 311 Michael Grove, just south of Villard on the west side, but no one was hurt.
Chrissy Saoire-DeBoer lives right below where the fire started. She said, "I heard smoke alarms and went back outside and it was huge. And I ran back inside and got my dog and husband."
Saoire-DeBoer and everyone else in the eight-unit apartment complex made it out safely.
"I'm glad everybody's OK. The neighbors knocked on doors," she said.
People were also relieved when a pet dog was found and brought out safely.
Firefighter Dan Sertich said, "I walked up the ladder, went into the building and the dog was in the kennel."
He carried the dog, Sis, from the burning building. Her owners had arrived a few minutes before and assumed she didn't make it.
"The dog was a little frightened, probably happy to see us, I imagine," Sertich said.
The building has extensive fire and water damage, but the people who call this place home know it could have been much worse.
There's no word yet on what caused the fire. Firefighters stayed through the night watching for hotspots.
