HELENA - After a contentious election cycle, Republicans will maintain control of the Montana Legislature.
Pending any recounts, Republicans picked up one seat in the Senate and now have a 29 -21 majority over Democrats.
Then in the House, Democrats picked up seven seats but Republicans still maintain a large majority with 61 seats to the Democrats 39.
MSU Billings Political Science Professor Craig Wilson says one thing to keep in mind is that these Republicans will be working with Democratic Governor Elect Steve Bullock.
"You have divided control going in which means with that size of majorities, & the Democratic Governor being probable, we can look forward to a contentious session," Wilson says.
