BILLINGS - Injured Marine Christopher Bogner returned to his hometown of Miles City last night.

22-year-old Lcpl. Chris Bogner was injured by an IED (improvised explosive device) on Wednesday, July 11th in Afghanistan.

Since the explosion (which left him with two collapsed lungs, extensive wounds from shrapnel and brain swelling), Bogner has received multiple surgeries.

While he still has a long road to recovery, the support of Miles City has been "overwhelming" for Bogner. He expressed his gratitude every though he says he's "not much of a talker."

Miles City residents continue to raise money for Bogner. Businesses and friends found ways to raise support including a car show cruise. Type the letters "B-O-G" on Facebook and you will find a support page dedicated to Bogner.

Encouraging words, photos, and updates on his progress shower the virtual wall from 2,775 people. Some in the group have never personally met Chris, but now, they feel a connection.

Bogner said he expects his recovery to take another six to 12 months but in less than two months he's come a long way. Doctors can do amazing work, but sometimes it's the community that provides that extra boost needed for recovery.
