Q2 Weather Update: FLASH FLOOD WARNING Yellowstone County

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BILLINGS HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
NORTH CENTRAL YELLOWSTONE COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MONTANA...
MUSSELSHELL COUNTY IN CENTRAL MONTANA...

* UNTIL 945 PM MDT

* AT 647 PM MDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING
HEAVY RAIN APPROACHING THE WARNED AREA. FLASH FLOODING IS
EXPECTED TO BEGIN SHORTLY.

EXCESSIVE RAINFALL OVER THE BURN SCARS FOR THE DAHL FIRE...THE
DELPHIA FIRE...AND THE WILSON FIRE WILL RESULT IN DEBRIS FLOW MOVING
THROUGH THE AREA. THE DEBRIS FLOW CAN CONSIST OF
ROCK...MUD...VEGETATION AND OTHER LOOSE MATERIALS.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF AN INCH OR TWO ARE POSSIBLE IN THE
WARNED AREA.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.
