BILLINGS - The next cold front has moved onshore in Washington and Oregon, and the Jet Stream is guiding it right into Idaho and western Montana. This next cold front will continue to lower the temperatures a little bit, and drop some snow into western Montana tonight and Billings tomorrow morning.
Until then we still expect the wind to "howl like a big dog" and become a prolonged event. High pressure over the mountains is pushing air into the state, while a Low pressure in southern Canada will pull the air out of Montana. The two elements will keep the wind howling through midweek and finally relax around Thursday evening. I look for a good chance of snow on Friday and again off and on thought the weekend.
Tonight: Mostly cloudy with spotty rain or snow overnight. Low 34.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of morning snow and windy conditions in the afternoon. High 39.
Thursday: Partly sunny with a slight chance of rain or snow and cool. High 38.
