Q2 Weather: Mild for now, but winter weather ahead

A little breezy today, otherwise a weak ridge of high pressure is going to keep us mild to start the weekend. Highs Friday and Saturday should be close to Thursday's above average highs in the 40s and low 50s. Expect some high clouds, but nothing that would bring rain or snow for today or tomorrow. Lows will be in the 20s to low 30s Saturday morning.

By Sunday, highs slip closer to seasonal averages in the mid-30s, and the chance of snow increases. The foothills may pick up a few inches, and the plains, including Billings, will likely see some light snow sometime Sunday or Sunday night.

Monday remains fairly neutral with again, seasonal highs. But by Tuesday, we look to get at least nicked by some seriously cold air that will drop from the Yukon into the Central Plains of the U.S.. There will be a little snow with this, and the coldest air will be east of Billings. This is something we'll watch carefully over the weekend.

Billings Forecast:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. West southwest wind 15 to 25 mph.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 49*. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. West southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Light breeze. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
