BILLINGS - Shortly after noon on Friday, emergency personnel responded to a propane truck rolled on its side at the intersection of Hillcrest Road and Blue Creek Road.
The propane truck, owned by Valley Farmers Supply of Worden, was driven by 49-year-old Monte Krumm of Ballantine. Krumm was headed eastbound on Hillcrest Road when he claims a mechanical failure with the brakes made him unable to stop, according to Montana Highway Trooper Toby Baukema.
Krumm went through the intersection, narrowly missing another vehicle, and the truck rolled on its driver side. Krumm suffered cuts and abrasions but declined medical transport.
The propane truck leaked, according to Baukema, and contained a half-tank of propane, or about 1,500 gallons of propane.
Trooper Baukema said the leak was significant and Blue Creek Fire Department, as well as Billings Fire Hazmat responded to clean up the leak.
Blue Creek Road was closed for about an hour but has since been reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
