SPOKANE, WA - The Montana State University Billings men's and women's basketball teams are both riding three-game winning streaks, and the catalysts for those streaks, Antoine Proctor and Brooke Tolman, both earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors.
A senior from Washington, D.C., Proctor recorded 37 total points in the men's pair of wins last week and added nine rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead the Yellowjackets in wins over Western Oregon University, then the second team in the conference, and Saint Martin's University.
In MSUB's 79-57 win over WOU on Thursday, Proctor had a team second-best 12 points off a 4-8 performance from the field that included knocking down three three-pointers. Two days later, the 6-3 guard recorded a game-high 25 points that included going 3-4 from three-point range and 6-6 from the charity stripe as the Yellowjackets defeated the Saints 82-74 to move into a tie for fourth-place in the league with Western Oregon.
Tolman, a junior from Honeyville, Utah, was named Co-Player of the Week along with Alaska Anchorage's Hanna Johansson after she led the Yellowjacket women with a team-high 30 points, seven three-pointers and seven rebounds off the bench in a pair of road-wins that have moved MSUB into a tie for third-place in the conference with Seattle Pacific.
During MSUB's 57-41 win over Western Oregon in Monmouth, Ore., Tolman broke out with a season-high 19 points. The 5-7 guard went 6-10 from the field, including going 4-6 from three-point range and went 3-4 from the free throw line while also bringing down five rebounds. She followed that performance up with 11 points, including draining three treys, in Lacey, Wash. as the Yellowjackets held off Saint Martin's 58-52.
