UPDATE: Officials have ordered pre-evacuations for Stillwater County residents in the Shane Creek area south of the Skibstead Fire. DNRC says there is also a pre-evacuation order for residents in the East Shane Creek and south to the Carbon County line due to the blaze, as of 10:41 p.m. Wednesday evening.
As of 8:45 Wednesday evening, fire managers estimate the Skibstead Fire is 600-800 acres.
It has burned across the county line into Carbon County. The fire is burning most actively to the south in grass, sage and (predominately) timber. Officials are now saying the cause of the is undetermined - even though earlier reports cited a house explosion on the Skibstad Road as the fire's cause.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this update stated that there were evacuation orders in effect. The Stillwater County Sheriff's Office notified us early Thursday morning that this was not the case. All orders are pre-evacuation orders only. The confusion was due to an error in the information we received from fire officials.
