BILLINGS - At least 10 trees were destroyed in Pioneer Park this week, after a vandal with a hatchet chopped off trunks and branches throughout the park.
According to the Billings Park, Recreation and Public Lands Department, the trunks of the trees were chopped off above ground and several evergreen trees were also completely destroyed. The vandal damaged several other trees by chopping and breaking off branches, as well as chipping away at the trunk.
The cost in damage is estimated to be at least $5,000.
