Paddleboarder stops in Great Falls during Missouri River journey

Scott Mestrezat of Illinois is traveling the length of the Missouri River, but he's doing it using something a bit unusual: a stand-up paddleboard.

Mestrezat aims to navigate all 2,000+ miles of the river on his paddleboard and end up in St. Louis in September.

His journey began June 7 near Three Forks; he "christened" his paddleboard with Moose Drool beer, naming his watercraft "The Muddy Moose of the Missouri."

He described his passage through the Gates Of The Mountains as "unbelievably scenic," but was less enthusiastic about a pounding hailstorm.

His travels brought him to Great Falls.

You can follow Scott's progress on his website and on his Facebook page.
