One killed, two injured in northwestern Montana car crash

LAKE COUNTY - An Alaska woman is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Northwest Montana.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a 51-year-old woman from Anchorage died of injuries sustained in the crash that happened just outside of St. Ignatius on St. Mary's Lake Road at 10:40 p.m. Sunday.

The woman apparently drifted over the center line and collided with an oncoming vehicle head-on.

The woman's Subaru Forrester flipped during the crash and landed on the driver's side of the car. She was partially ejected and died on scene.

A 37-year-old man and 15-year-old boy from St. Ignatius were in the second vehicle, a Honda Accord.

Both males were injured in the crash.

No one was wearing seat belts.

MHP reports alcohol and speed were factors.

The accident remains under investigation.
