UPDATE: Billings man killed in downtown shootout with police

BILLINGS - A man was shot and killed by Billings police after an exchange of gunfire early this morning in downtown Billings.

The shooting incident began around 3 a.m. at the Holiday Gas Station in downtown Billings. Police officers witnessed a white male that had outstanding warrants. Officers attempted to make an arrest inside the gas station when the suspect pulled a gun and started firing at the officers.

The shootout continued with the suspect across 27th Street into Burger King parking lot. The suspect was shot and killed by police at the Dude Rancher Motel. No other injuries have been reported. The mans identity has not been released.

Several roads in the downtown area were blocked off early this morning but have since reopened.
