LOCKWOOD - The Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office is investigating an officer involved shooting in Lockwood Saturday night.
The shooting happened at 1848 Canary Avenue shortly after 10 p.m.
Undersheriff Kevin Evans says officers responded to the scene following a suspicious call. Shortly after they arrived shots were fired. The undersheriff would not discuss any further details about the case.
We spoke with witnesses at the scene who said they heard several shots fired.
Amanda Reichelt lives a couple houses down from where the shooting took place.
According to Reichelt, four small children live at the residence, but she didn't know if they were inside the home during the incident. Reichelt said a woman, the woman's mother, and the woman's boyfriend live at the residence as well.
Reichelt and several other witnesses said the person involved in the shooting was the woman's boyfriend, who is in his mid-twenties.
Witnesses report they saw the man taken away in handcuffs by ambulance to a local hospital. It is unknown if he was conscious or how severe his injuries were.
Neighbors say 1848 Canary Ave. has had previous issues with law enforcement, but there has never been a shooting.
It is unknown if gunfire was exchanged. The condition of the officer is also unknown, but we have reason to believe he did not suffer any major injuries.
The shooting remains under investigation.
We will have more information as it becomes available.
