BILLINGS - The picture says it all.
When Q2 staff discovered this photo circulating on Facebook Tuesday morning, we followed suit and posted it to our Facebook page.
It generated traffic like rush hour on Main, so we decided to look into the origin of the photo.
Yellowstone National Park West District Ranger Michael Keator tells Q2 the picture is authentic.
According to Keator, the dramatic photo (click image to enlarge) was snapped by a park employee in April 2010, between the Madison Junction and Old Faithful, in the Fountain Flats area.
The original estimates of the size of the two mammoth beasts put the bison in the range of 1600 pounds-- and the grizzly at more than 800 pounds.
However, Yellowstone National Park bear biologist Kerry Gunther says those estimates are too high.
