BILLINGS - Yellowstone County prosecutors added more charges Tuesday against a man accused of committing a string of serial rapes in Billings.
Toby Eugene Griego, 41, appeared in District Court by video from the county jail where he was served with amended charges related to four incidents between January and July. Griego is accused of breaking into the homes of four women who were assaulted and raped. Three of the woman were taken from their homes and forced to removed cash from bank machines.
Griego was arrested in August following an extensive investigation by the Billings Police Department.
Prior to Tuesday, Griego was charged with 38 counts of related to three of the incidents on Jan. 27, May 27 and July 2.
Prosecutors added two new charges - attempted rape and aggravated kidnapping - related to an incident on April 25.
Griego pleaded not guilty to all 40 charges, which include numerous counts of rape, robbery, assault and kidnapping.
Judge Russell Fagg maintained Griego's bond at $1 million. A trial has been set before Fagg on Jan. 22.
