Moose Mountain Fire holds steady in Little Belt Mountains

The Moose Mountain Fire has burned approximately 41 acres in the Little Belt Mountains since being sparked by lightning and first reported on Saturday afternoon.

Dave Cunningham with the Lewis & Clark National Forest says the fire is located about four miles west of Showdown Ski Area.

He adds no structures are threatened, but the U.S. Forest Service is concerned about Red Flag fire conditions continuing into the early part of the week.

Containment as of Monday evening is estimated at about 15% and there are nearly 100 people working to contain and extinguish the fire.

An Area Closure has been issued for the fire area; public and hunter safety is a major concern for firefighters and fire officials are asking everyone
