BUTTE - Montana Tech is renaming its' two-year college after the nearby Highland Mountains.

Formally known as the College of Technology, the school recognized its new name, Highlands College, during a small ceremony on its campus Monday morning.

Renaming the school is part of a rebranding effort to expand the mission of two-year education, according to Amanda Badovinac, director of marketing and public relations for Montana Tech.

"This is an exciting time to be part of two-year education in Montana and in the United States because the world needs, the United States especially, needs more people with college credentials," said John Garick, dean of the Highlands College. "That's the future."
