Montana prison inmate dies of suicide

DEER LODGE - State prison officials say that an inmate died over the weekend at the Montana State Prison as the result of an apparent suicide.
Montana Department of Corrections spokesman Bob Anez says that Corey Weis was found on the floor of his cell, following an apparent suicide attempt by hanging on Saturday, June 23, at around 4 p.m.
Anez says in a news release that Weis was taken to Deer Lodge Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Weis, 26, was serving a two-year sentence for criminal mischief out of Yellowstone County.
The death remains under investigation and Anez says a coroner's inquest is planned.
