Jacob McCoy was booked into the Cascade County Detention Center on Wednesday and is facing several charges after allegedly using bear spray on several people in Great Falls.

According to police, McCoy was driving near 5th Street North and 6th Avenue when he nearly hit a child.

A bystander reportedly approached McCoy's car and punched him through the window.

At that point, McCoy allegedly got out of the car and encountered four people.

McCoy told police that he felt threatened so he used bear spray on the group, which included children of ages 7, 9, and 12.

One of the people hit with the bear spray was taken to the hospital because a previous injury was aggravated by the spray.

McCoy, 42, is facing three charges of felony negligent assault on a minor, and three charges of misdemeanor assault.
