A campaign 2012 special report-
Oil, gas and coal...these energy sources are booming in the region. Current Attorney General and democratic gubernatorial candidate Steve Bullock believes these are also key in creating jobs.
"Let's develop these resources. It not only impacts the area but can impact the whole state. Let's also do what we can to make sure the infrastructure is there."
Bullock is referring to the infrastructure of cities and towns throughout the state. With a significant number of North Dakota's oil field workers living in Montana, he wants to make sure the state can keep up with the demand.
"Government's role is to respond to try to make sure that the basic needs can be filled there while we continue to take advantage of these great economic opportunities we have."
Bullock says he is in support of coal production in Otter Creek, but only if the price is right.
"Montana has a long history of giving away resources and we certainly don't want to do that so lets responsibly develop our resources, which I support, but lets also make sure like you'd expect in any other area of government that we get the price we should to basically protect our tax payers and create jobs."
He is also behind the proposed the Keystone Pipe Line under certain conditions.
"As long as it's done right and private property rights are respected, I'm all for this job creating measure and have expressed that to the administration."
