BILLINGS - A furniture company with five Montana locations will close its Billings location in the next three months.
After seven years in Billings, Montana Furniture Galleries on South 24th Street West starts its going out of business sale on Thursday.
The company closure affects six employees in Billings and 63 across Montana.
The company will also close stores in Bozeman, Missoula .and Helena. It has already closed its Kalispell store. It will also close its factory in Bozeman.
Owner Greg Metzger says because of the economy, customers want to save money rather than spend on middle to upper end furniture.
Montana Furniture Galleries has been in business for 13 years.
"It's pretty heart rendering, " said Greg Metzger, owner of Montana Furniture Galleries. "It's tragic in it's own way. You can say it's just business. But there are people involved at both ends of the spectrum. It's just sad. It's disappointing. Just not enough business to survive."
Metzger expects to liquidate his inventory in 60 to 90 days.
