Montana couple scores $40K in Montana Lottery

Gary and Linda O'Brien of Great Falls claimed a $40,012 Powerball prize on Tuesday.

The O'Brien's winning ticket was purchased at Schulte's on 38th Street Store in Great Falls.

They told Lottery officials that they always play the same Powerball numbers and usually do not pay the extra $1 to add Power Play.

This time, however, they did, which boosted their jackpot from $10,000 to $40,012.

"I still can't believe it," said Gary.

The drawing was held on Saturday and they discovered on Tuesday that they had won.

"We thought we only won $100, the clerks at Schulte's checked the ticket and told us we won a lot more," said Gary.

The couple plans to put their Lottery winnings toward their house.

The Powerball jackpot is estimated at $110 million for Wednesday's drawing.
