BILLINGS - An AirTran plane en route to Milwaukee from Seattle was forced to land in Billings when the windshield fractured during the flight Saturday afternoon.
The Boeing 737, with 124 passenger was over eastern Montana when the window cracked.
At 2:15 p.m. the plane was at 39,000 feet heading east at 558 mph. Thirteen minutes later the plane was heading west at 7,000 feet at a speed of 287 mph.
The pilot was able to land the plane in Billings after declaring an emergency.
A new plane is being brought in for the passengers.
