Memorial service set for UW football player

Laramie - A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex on the University of Wyoming campus to honor UW student and football player Ruben Narcisse. Narcisse died in a car accident early on the morning of Monday, Sept. 6. The memorial service is open to the public.
Narcisse was a freshman at UW and was a native of Miami, Fla.
The Ruben Narcisse Memorial Fund has also been established through the Cowboy Joe Club within the University of Wyoming Athletics Department. All donations will go to the Narcisse family to help defray funeral and other costs associated with the death of Ruben Narcisse. To make a donation, interested parties may mail a check payable to the Cowboy Joe Club to:

Information regarding funeral arrangements for Narcisse are still pending.

Wyoming's Football team will honor Narcisse by wearing a decal with his initials "RN" on their helmets. Those decals will have a black background with his initials in white, and will be evident this Saturday when the Cowboys travel to Austin, Texas, to play the University of Texas Longhorns.
Teammates of Narcisse have also requested that they be able to wear his #12 jersey during upcoming games. For Saturday's game at Texas, sophomore strong safety Shamiel Gary will wear Narcisse's #12 jersey. The following week, when Wyoming hosts Boise State on Sept. 18, junior linebacker Brian Hendricks will wear #12, and on Sept. 25 in the Wyoming-Air Force game senior free safety Chris Prosinski will don the #12 jersey of Narcisse.
