BILLINGS - A year ago, longtime Billings priest and mentor for many adults and students in the Catholic community, Father Steve Tokarski, died of cancer. One year later, a finished memorial honors the influential priest.

When he arrived in 1992, St. Pius X was still congregated in a gymnasium. While his plans to lead didn't include a new building, it did not take long before the parish was being held in its own space.

Tokarski was instrumental in building the new church and growing St. Pius into the largest Catholic community in the state.

In his memory, the church community build a memorial to match Tokarski's demeanor; friendly, involved, and effective. The Stations of the Cross are sandstone pillars that outline an incoming garden planned to be place by next year.
