An unusual high speed chase has members of the Butte Police Department scratching their heads.
It was just past Rocker on Interstate 90 when officers deployed stop sticks on a white Nissan Xterra belonging to John Hughes, 55.
The chase began around 3:25 a.m. Thursday when Hughes began tail gating officers. He was pulled over briefly on Harrison Avenue before taking off again onto the interstate, exceeding speeds of 100 miles per hour.
Officers drew their guns when the Xterra came to a stop. Hughes emerged and was determined to be sober. He reportedly told officers he had always wanted to lead police on a chase.
Hughes pled guilty in court on Thursday, and because of his clean record, was only fined $1,000.
