Man killed in Three Forks crash

THREE FORKS - A Townsend man is dead after an early Thursday morning accident on Highway 287 near Three Forks.

The Montana Highway Patrol reports a male driving a pickup truck and pulling a gooseneck trailer crashed head-on into a semi tractor-trailer.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. Thursday and troopers said the male victim was headed south on Highway 287 when he crossed the centerline and collided with the semi.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. It's unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt. The driver of the semi was belted in and taken to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital with minor injuries. The two men were the only individuals involved in the accident.

MHP is investigating the crash and the Broadwater County Sheriff's Department will release the man's name once family is notified.
