LIVINGSTON - A rafting accident north of Gardiner today claimed the life of a 33-year old man.
Park County Sheriff Allan Lutes says his office was notified just before 2pm Thursday that a man had been knocked out of a raft about one mile north of Gardiner.
Sheriff Lutes says the victim was located and brought to shore at La Duke Springs along Highway 89, where emergency crews initiated CPR on the victim.
The man was then transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim's name has not yet been released.
Sheriff Lutes advises the public to exercise extreme caution while participating in water activites, especially during this time of high river flows and rapid water.
The National Weather Service says recent rain and snowmelt has the Yellowstone River flowing near its flood stage at Livingston.
