UPDATE: Victim identified after being struck by truck on Montana Ave

BILLINGS - A man struck by a truck and killed Wednesday morning in downtown Billings has been identified. Deputy County Coroner Chad Fehr says 73-year-old James Feller died from blunt force trauma to his neck and torso.

Police say Feller was hit by a truck that lost control and pushed him into a building. Sgt. Jason Gartner said the 18-year-old pickup truck driver was heading south on Division when he attempted to head west and turn on Montana. Sgt. Gartner said the roadway was wet. For some unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and went onto the sidewalk striking a pedestrian. The truck pushed the Feller into the building. Feller was taken to the hospital and later died.

The driver stayed on scene where he was interviewed by police. According to Sgt. Gartner it is unknown if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

At this time, an investigation is underway and a crash team is taking a closer look at the accident scene.
