Butte-Silver Bow law officers responded to a call early Wednesday morning regarding an alleged prowler on her rooftop.
A woman who is living with her brother, sent frantic text messages to her brother around 4 a.m. Wednesday saying there was a man on the roof above her apartment.
Her brother immediately called 9-1-1.
When authorities arrived, they discovered not only was the man still on the roof but he was the woman's ex-boyfriend.
Police arrested 35-year-old Vernon Maddock and charged him with partner family member assault with reasonable apprehension and criminal trespass to property. Both misdemeanor charges.
Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff John Walsh says there was no motive listed in the initial report.
