Lolo School kicks off new anti-bullying campaign

LOLO - Lolo School is taking steps to making school a safer place for students with a new anti-bullying campaign.

The University of Montana Dance Team helped kick off the event on Wednesday to rev students up about the new program.

The school is taking steps to stop bullying before it happens with the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, a system used nationwide with positive results.
Teachers will lead classroom discussions about bullying to show kids what they can do to help.

K-4 counselor Krista King says the new program will empower students and teach them how to respond to bullying.

"They are the ones that see and hear a lot more than everybody else," King said. "So they're the ones that are first hand. So allowing them the chance to figure out what to do when they're faced with these situations."

The program will continue throughout the school year and in upcoming years.
