HELENA - The Montana Legislature is debating how much money it has to spend for the next two years.
The Legislative Fiscal Division predicts the state will have $4.2 billion in general fund revenue for fiscal years 2014 and 2015.
Meanwhile, the Governor's Budget Office is anticipating revenue will be $4.3 billion dollars, marking a 1% difference.
The revenue estimate serves as a starting point for lawmakers as they balance the budget.
Historically the revenue estimate bill hasn't passed due to political reasons, but this year the Republican legislators who chair the House and Senate Taxation committees say it will.
