UPDATE: Friday morning accident leaves Billings resident in critical condition

UPDATE: BILLINGS - The motorcyclist severly injured in a Friday morning collision remains listed in critical condition at St. Vincent's Healthcare.

Billings Police Department identified the man as Billings resident Jason Purvis, 35.

According to the release, Purvis is listed as a "habitual traffic offender with extensive traffic history."

Alcohol and speed are considered factors in the single vehicle accident on the 1600 block of Central Avenue.


BILLINGS - Just before 1:30 a.m. Friday, Billings Police responded to the 1600 block of Central Ave for a report of a motorcycle accident.

Billings Police Department tells Q2 that it is unclear if the motorcycle was in an accident with another vehicle or if the driver just lost control.

The 35-year-old male driver was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital due to severe head trauma.

Sgt. Shane Winden says the male driver of the motorcycle was driving westbound on Central when he either got into an accident with another vehicle or lost control for an unknown reason.

Widen went on to say that the driver was not wearing a helmet and had sustained a skull fracture from the crash.

The driver is listed in critical condition at this time.

Central Ave is Closed from 15th Street West to 17th Street West. Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation by the Billings Police Department.
