The Flathead County Sheriff's Department says an 80 year old Kalispell man drowned in the North Fork of the Flathead River on Saturday afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., a group of people who were recreating near a river access saw the man floating face down in the river.
They pulled him out and attempted C.P.R, but were unable to resuscitate him.
The Sheriff's Department says the victim was recreating on the river with a friend, who they later found safe and sound further upstream from the river access.
The man's name has not yet been released.
Authorities are continuing their investigation.
