John Mayer organizing Bozeman concert to benefit area firefighters

BOZEMAN - One of southwestern Montana's newest and most famous residents is organizing a benefit concert to help the firefighters who battled this summer's Pine Creek Fire, which burned close to his property.
John Mayer announced on his Facebook page that he is organizing "The Livingston Town Proper: A concert to benefit the fighters of the Pine Creek Fire."

The fire burned about 8,500 acres around the small community south of Livingston. A few homes were lost in the blaze.
"Without the tireless effort and dedication of the firefighters of the Pine Creek Fire, many more homes and memories would have been destroyed, mine among them. I wasn't in town when the fire broke out and I've always wished I could do my part to help, the way so many in the community did. Putting on a concert to raise some money for the departments is the least I can do for a town and a community that has welcomed me with open arms," Mayer's website quotes him as saying.

The benefit concert is set to take place on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at the Emerson Theater in Bozeman. According to the website, Mayer will be joined onstage by Zac Brown and Clay Cook of Zac Brown Band. Also performing will be David Ryan Harris, Sean Hurley and Aaron Sterling among other special guests. Zac Brown and Clay Cook, along with long time band mate David Ryan Harris, will step in to add vocals for Mayer.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. MST. A limited number of premium seats will be available through Tickets-for-Charity at $1,000 per ticket package, including a donation directly benefiting the Park County Community Foundation (PCCF) to support local wildfire relief. These tickets include a meet and greet with John and Zac Brown as well as an autographed poster. For more information on Tickets-for-Charity's Charitable SaleTM program, go here. The rest of the tickets will range in price from $100 to $250 and can be purchased at

According to the website, local fans will also have a chance to win a Martin HD-28 guitar in Sunburst finish ($3,399 retail), which will be autographed by John Mayer and Zac Brown. The guitar will be on showcase at Music Villa in Bozeman, where raffle tickets may be purchased for a chance to win. All proceeds will go to the PCCF.

According to Mayer's website, "(t)he Park County Community Foundation, whose mission is ‘Connecting caring people and resources with community needs and opportunities,' will distribute proceeds from the benefit to the various area volunteer and city fire departments who lent their support and resources to fight the fire. The foundation has established the ‘Pine Creek Fire Relief fund' to expedite funds to address the needs of the local departments.
