BISMARCK, ND - A shooting and kidnapping suspect out of Idaho has been apprehended in Bismarck, North Dakota.
The Bismarck Police Department arrested Mitchell Lee Walck sometime after noon CST on Wednesday
Officers responded to the Oasis Truck Stop. A 34-year old Solen, ND man found Walck inside his truck. Walck threatened the man with a handgun and then fled on foot into a mobile home park.
A witness told police where Walck was seen. Officers set up a perimeter and found Walck hiding under a pine tree. Bismarck police took Walck into custody without incident. He had a 9 mm handgun in his waistband.
Walck had been on the run, after allegedly shooting at Idaho State Police and kidnapping a woman in Rathdrum, Idaho.
In addition to being arrested for a warrant out of Idaho, Walck was arrested for unlawful entry to a motor vehicle, terrorizing and felon in possession of a firearm.
The FBI is investigating. Walck will be taken to the Burleigh County Detention Center.
He was transported to the Bismarck Police Department.
Law enforcement has been looking for Walck since Friday night.
Police say Walck kidnapped 62-year old Susan Smith from her ranch in Idaho and took her car. He released Smith unharmed in Glendive.
Bismarck Police recovered a 2005 Silver Subaru Forester in a nearby parking lot that was reported stolen from Idaho.
