BOZEMAN, MT - Republican House candidate Steve Daines will speak at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida on Monday.
The Daines campaign has known for a few days, but the Republican National Committee asked that the campaign wait until the RNC had made a formal announcement.
Speaker of the House John Boehner, who visited Billings last week, invited Daines to speak.
"It's an honor to have this invitation," Daines said. "Was not expecting it. But the speaker thinks highly of Montana. I think it's a good thing for Montana because it continues to keep our voice heard and keep Montana on the map."
Zach Lahn, spokesman for the Daines campaign, said Daines is one of more than a dozen House candidates who will speak at the convention.
Daines said the invitation came as a complete surprise.
Daines is running against Democrat Kim Gillan of Billings.

Three Montanans are scheduled to speak at the major political party conventions. Who are you more excited for?
