Ray Dolin of West Virginia, who claimed to have been shot near Glasgow on the Montana Hi-Line on Saturday, has confessed that the gunshot wound he suffered was actually self-inflicted.
Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier tells us that Dolin confessed on Thursday night to shooting himself.
Dolin claimed that he was hitchhiking along Highway 2 west of Glasgow on Saturday when the driver of a pickup truck pulled over and shot him in the arm and then drove away.
Authorities later arrested and charged Lloyd Christopher Danielson III, 52, for the incident; Danielson was arrested near Culbertson.
On Thursday, Meier said that Danielson had been cleared of any involvement in the shooting, stating at the time that more information would be released on Friday.
Dolin could face charges for the incident; Meier said that more information will be released on Monday.
Dolin is reportedly working on a book about kindness in America.
