BOZEMAN - Bozeman officials agreed to close Main Street for two hours on July 4, a request that came from the Green Coalition of Gay Loggers for Jesus.

The group had originally requested Main Street be closed for over 12 hours on Independence Day, but Bozeman Director of Public Services Debbie Arkell said that long of a closure would substantially disrupt pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

The city agreed to close Main Street for two hours for the group to hold a parade. That event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The Green Coalition is best known for a parade during last year's 4th of July, held before a much larger parade and rally from the Bozeman Tea Party.

Coalition organizer Brian Leland is appealing the city's decision to deny the full closure.
